Fuller Potter began with traditional modes of representation. His early pencil and ink drawings particularly evince a sort of frantic,
overall graphic energy that he held even then as his own. In his maturity these graphic instincts reached culminating heights in his full
abstract expressionist works. This evolution towards abstraction is apparent
